SW, ITEC. Dip) is the founder and cosmetic formulator behind Botanical Formulations. She has over 16 years’ practical experience of creating natural skincare and hair care products. Rebecca has a BA in Development Studies as well as an MA and Diploma in Social Work (Goldsmiths College). Although not directly related to cosmetic formulation, studying at an advanced educational level has given Rebecca strong research and analytical skills. These skills have been instrumental in helping her learn the complex theory and science behind effective cosmetic formulation. Both degrees are also heavily based on international and national legislation, values, and ethical working practices. This has given Rebecca a unique advantage when navigating the legislative and compliance aspects of cosmetic formulation. Rebecca holds an ITEC Diploma in Aromatherapy Massage. This qualification has provided her with a strong understanding of essential oil chemistry, safe dilution rates, and therapeutic properties of essential oils. Furthermore, she has Diplomas in Holistic and Shiatzu Pregnancy Massage (Wellmother). These certifications have given her a foundation in human anatomy, skin anatomy, product penetration, dermal limits, and contraindications for a diverse range of clients. Throughout the years Rebecca’s focus has been on creating safe and effective natural/organic products that lean toward the minimalism. Rebecca is of mixed Yemeni and English heritage and as such she has often found traditional West Asian ingredients such as rose, oud, frankincense and myrrh feature into many of her formulations and you will find homage to the middle east infused into much of what she creates. Over the years Rebecca has formulated for cosmetic start-ups, small and medium size businesses.
